Happiness is adopting four paws!

dog shelter charlotte nc

Our dedicated volunteers are devoted to helping abandoned and abused cats and dogs find loving homes. Carolina P.A.W.S. volunteers can be found "in the trenches," rescuing animals at high risk - those starving on the streets, languishing in shelters, and suffering in abusive situations. Each animal has a different past but our promise to them all is the same…a second chance.

WE LOVE OUR PARTNERS !

We have found homes for over 5000 dogs on the last 20 years. The Greater Charlotte SPCA does not own or operate a shelter facility. Volunteers foster all animals in their homes until adopted. Many of our animals come from high-kill shelters and other rescue situations.

We envision a future when all companion animals have the support, care, and human connections needed to lead healthy, rewarding lives. GCSPCA is always looking for dedicated animal lovers to join us. By donating a few hours a month, you become part of the solution. Lend a hand through a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Volunteers foster all animals in their homes until they are adopted.

We are dedicated to providing refuge to the many abandoned, abused and neglected dogs of our community and placing them in appropriate homes where they are members of the family. We are committed to connecting homeless and neglected animals in need with a forever, loving home, while providing resources to house, transport, and care for these animals. If you have a compassionate heart and a desire to provide temporary homes and care for animals in need, we invite you to embark on a journey of love, growth, and transformation. In addition to our CPR certification, we also have a range of safety protocols in place to ensure that your pets are always safe and secure while in our care.

Tranquility Sanctuary

While looking over the adoptable cats on our site you might find some that are listed as Pet Super or PetSmart. Click on their picture and there will a note saying which store they are located. You are welcome to contact them to make sure the cat is still available for adoption; you are then encouraged to go to the store in person to meet them.

No animals will be placed on hold if you call/email/text/chat/message on social channels. Select animals are eligible for pre-adoption after passing a health and behavior assessment when they arrive at the shelter. In order to fast track these animals into a home as quickly as possible, you can pre-adopt them while they wait their stray hold time. If they are not reclaimed by an owner adopters will be contacted when they are ready to go home. Our team of dedicated animal lovers is committed to ensuring that every pet is treated with kindness, compassion, and respect throughout the rehoming process. Without your generous and on-going support, we cannot be successful.

Please check back in the future for any potential expansion. Billie's Buddies is a 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. We have many wonderful animals looking for a forever home. The Humane Society of Charlotte believes in working to improve our community by creating new, loving families, and building a world where there are no more homeless and unwanted animals. This is an ongoing process — for every animal we can connect with a new family, another animal in need comes to HSC’s shelter.

We find that fostering gives us the opportunity to assess the animal's personality and needs. This allows us to best match them with the right adoptive family. Also, we are able to provide all care and medical needs for our animals. It enables the animal to develop a happy frame of mind before adoption.

Have each dog on a leash with a calm, relaxed adult handler. Keeps the leashes loose; tension on the leash can communicate anxiety to the dog, which can cause them to become anxious or fearful about the other dog. Walk with a safe distance between the dogs, down either side of a street works well.

To adopt an animal, you must be at least 18 years of age. All animals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Though you want to be gentle and patient with your new pup, you also want to start training immediately. Small pets found at Cotswold include Gerbils, Guinea Pigs, and Rabbits.

If they feel they have found a match for you, they will contact you directly. This form is not meant for alerts when an animal you may be looking for comes into our shelter as we do not have the means to keep track of such information. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. We are an all-volunteer based 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue centrally located in the greater Charlotte NC area.

Monetary donations of any size are beneficial and welcome. At the Humane Society of Charlotte, we offer training sessions with dog behavior experts. Please bring a valid form of identification and payment. Adopting a dog or puppy in Charlotte is a new beginning – both for the pup and for you. However, sometimes new beginnings can be a little scary.
